What is saved, where it stays, and how to remove it.
Reading data stays in your browser
This site uses localStorage to save your reading settings, bookmarks, and last reading position under the key bible.reader.v1. This information is not sent to an account or synchronized to a server. It may be lost if you clear your browser data or use private browsing.
Listening preferences
Chapter audio is generated in advance using synthetic speech. Listening position, playback speed, volume and the next-chapter preference are saved locally under bible.audio.v1. Audio is delivered from this site; listening does not send your text or preferences to a speech service. Clear reading data also clears your listening place and stops playback.
Google Analytics
This site loads Google Analytics (measurement ID G-GBVN06DC5C) when you visit public pages to measure visits. Google can receive the public page address, browser and device information, and technical network information. Analytics cookies identify repeat visits. This site disables Google advertising signals and ad personalization.
Analytics starts automatically without a consent pop-up. You can manage or delete cookies in your browser and use browser tracking protection. Reading does not require an account and continues to work if analytics is blocked.
Saved bookmarks, saved reading positions and search terms are not included in our analytics events. Search, bookmarks and settings pages do not load analytics. Pages with URL query parameters also keep analytics off. Page addresses sent by this site omit query strings and verse fragments. Learn more about Google’s privacy policy.
Search and technical requests
Search runs in your browser using a downloaded index. Your search words are not submitted to a third-party search service. A shared search address can contain your query; that address may appear in browser history and in the hosting provider’s technical request logs when opened directly.
Hosting infrastructure may process information needed to deliver the site, such as IP addresses, requested paths, and browser information. The hosting provider’s retention and processing arrangements must be confirmed when the public site is deployed.
You are in control
Visit Reading Settings and choose Clear reading data to remove this site’s settings, bookmarks, and reading position. Reset to defaults changes only your reading preferences and keeps your bookmarks.
